Sydney biotech Psiron

Sydney biotech Psiron is the first client of BresaGen. Psiron seek the service of BresaGen to provide them with a melanoma therapy called Cavatak. This therapeutic is based on the Cocksackie A21 Virus strain of Psiron. This therapeutic can stop cancerous cells when injected in solid tumors. These pharmaceuticals can stop cancerous cells through apoptosis. Psiron developed the virus originally in a melanoma cell line. This released the virus on lysing; however, the trial was delayed in a late stage on melanoma patients. This is why it was switched to production in a mammalian cell line which is a non-cancer type. This is out of the fact that it may be unsettling to most patients.

Cavatak in BresaGen

BresaGen developed Cavatak via the new cell line of Psiron. This is a staged move for BresaGen as they delve in the area of the mammalian cell-derived therapeutics. The company started by creating a pilot production plant in Thebarton located in the inner Adelaide suburb. It used the pilot plan to develop and purify the Cavatak virus. This fancily can grow mammalian cells. It can also produce different bio-therapeutics for the pre-clinical studies and clinical trials for their clients. This company already has a good relationship with the Therapeutic Goods Administration which is the national pharmaceutical watchdog. This means, the company has good discussions with the Therapeutic Goods Administrations on the production of the new Therabton facility.

Mammalian Therapeutics

According to Dr. Meera Verma the COO of BresaGen, the expansion of the company on the mammalian cell-derived therapeutics is a good business move. This company already has executed supply contracts that would reach up to AUD$680,000 on the WA based junior biotech Caldeon and the Tissue Therapies of Brisbane. Caldeon has collaborative efforts with the University of Western Australia to develop the best therapeutics that would reduce bone loss.
